NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The body of a 13-year-old girl was discovered on the shore along Brooklyn Bridge Park on Monday, according to police.
A person walking in the park found the body on the shore at Pier 5 near Furman Street around 8:25 a.m., officials said.
Authorities believe the girl died elsewhere before washing up on the shore.
Police have identified the child, but are withholding her identity pending notification of her family.
The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
