NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — All 41 Broadway theaters will continue to require COVID-19 vaccination for all audience members, performers, crew members and theater staffers at least through the end of the year, the Broadway League said Friday.

All audience members over the age of 12 will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination with a government-issued photo ID (or school ID for children 12-18). Those under the age of 12 will need to continue to show a negative PCR test, performed 72 hours prior to the show’s start time, or rapid antigen test, performed 6 hours ahead of the theatrical performance.

Theatergoers will also be required to continue to wear face coverings inside all Broadway theaters, except while actively eating or drinking in designated locations.

“Broadway is back, and it is exhilarating to see the energy on our stages, and in our audiences, once again. We know that with these policies in place through the end of the year, we will continue to help our audiences feel safe and to deliver them the thrill of Broadway night after night,” said Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League.

The announcement Friday simply extends the COVID protocols that have already been in place since Broadway resumed rehearsals and performances in July.

The Broadway League had previously said it would review its protocols in the fall. The policy will be revisited again by Dec. 1 for performances beginning in January 2022.
