NEWARK N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey federal court sentenced a Bronx woman to almost two years in prison Thursday for ripping off over $200,000 worth of iPhones.

Rosanna Lucrecia Cruel Blanco, 39, was sentenced to 21 months in prison for conspiracy to commit mail fraud for a scam she ran from 2017 to 2020.
An FBI investigation discovered Blanco and her unnamed conspirators would assume the identities of cellphone customers and file claims under an unidentified company’s warranty insurance program.
The scam artists submitted hundreds of fraudulent claims for damage, theft or loss of phones belonging to other customers ranging in value from $700 to $1,000.
Blanco succeeded in tricking the company into mailing her over 100 cellphones.
Blanco and her crew made fake New York or New Jersey drivers licenses based on real people to verify their claims, and used shipping addresses all over the New York City metropolitan area, including the Bronx, Yonkers, White Plains, Manhattan and New Jersey.
In addition to the almost two years in prison, Blanco must also serve three years supervised release and pay $246,025 in restitution.
