NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 73-year-old driver struck and killed a woman in a wheelchair at an intersection in Kensington, Brooklyn, on Sunday, police said.
The driver was behind the wheel of a Lexus SUV at 1:30 p.m. when she hit the 68-year-old victim, who was crossing McDonald Avenue near Webster Avenue.
The victim was pinned by the SUV during the collision. Bystanders tried unsuccessfully to get the vehicle off the woman, with one person even using a jack.

She was eventually freed by emergency responders and rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. She was later identified as Joyce Greenberg, of Kensington.
The driver stayed at the scene and has not been charged.
Both she and her passenger, who is her sister, were not injured in the crash.

The passenger, Maureen Sardinha, told reporters that they're "still in a state of shock."
"We heard a crack at the side, we saw her under the car," she said.
Sardinha is a retired nurse and wanted to help, but she said she was told by police to stay away from the victim.
The victim, who hasn't been identified, lived in a group home near the scene.
"She would just go around in her wheelchair. She was very independent," one neighbor told WCBS-TV. "That's very sad to see life snuffed out so fast."
