NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The office of New York Attorney General Letitia James released the last of its taped inteviews and transcripts from its investigation into sexual harassment allegations leveled against ex-Gov Andrew Cuomo.
That meant the release of the six-hour testimony with CNN host Chris Cuomo, who was fired by the network after info emerged of him helping his brother as he faced the allegations.
“He’s my brother, and I love him to death no matter what,” Chris Cuomo said. “I only got one.”
Chris admitted to advising his brother not to go after the women who made the claims against him. He also said he told “friend” Alec Baldwin to avoid jumping in to support Andrew with a video deriding “cancel culture.”
“I didn’t think Alec Baldwin weighing in was helpful or respectful to the situation,” Chris Cuomo said. “And I was trying to help my brother, and it just didn’t seem that helpful.”
Chris said he spoke many times with Andrew in late-2020 as the allegations from Lindsey Boylan went public.
He also said that he told his older brother that the only path was to “have things investigated … let people judge what they find.”
Text messages also showed Chris Cuomo speak with Melissa DeRosa, who was at that time Andrew’s top aide. The conversation included him saying he was speaking to media industry sources for info on reports about the allegation’s against Andrew. He said he didn't work to sway coverage.
“What did you hear? How’s he playing? What do you know, you know, about how it’s being perceived? What are people saying to you?” the former “Cuomo Prime Time” host said.
He also spoke of trying to find holes in the story of one of his brother’s accusers, documents showed.
The interview with Chris Cuomo happened over the summer, with transcripts coming out late last year. The final report came out in August, finding allegations of sexual harassment from at least 11 women. The governor resigned in August 2021.
