NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Police busted nine people for illegal weapons in the Bronx early Saturday morning, the NYPD announced Monday.

Police approached the group for open containers of alcohol near the corner of Brook Avenue and East 140th Street in Mott Haven shortly after midnight, police said.

The cops then found the group to be in the illegal possession of three loaded firearms, tweeted Inspector Robert M. Gallitelli, the commanding officer of the 40th Precinct.

“Tremendous work by our midnight Public Safety team,” Gallitelli posted. “Addressing a crowd condition in the vicinity of  E 140th St, the team arrested 9 individuals who illegally possessed these three loaded firearms.”

Those arrested face related charges to criminal possession of weapons.
