Cops searching for Queens subway scammer who ripped off teenager

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a man who scammed a teenager out of $110 in a Queens subway station.

The man approached the 15-year-old boy around 3:30 p.m. on Monday at the southbound R train platform in the Woodhaven Boulevard station in Elmhurst, officials said.

The scammer purposefully dropped his phone near the boy and accused him of breaking it.

He reportedly demanded money and threatened to beat the teenager up if he refused.

The victim gave him $30 and agreed to allow him to use his cell phone, which the thief used to send himself $80 on Cash App before returning the phone and fleeing.
