Deli clerk slashed by beer thief in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is looking to identify a man wanted for slashing a deli worker during a robbery earlier this month in Brooklyn, officials said.

It happened just before 2 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, inside a deli located at 176 Albany Avenue in Crown Heights, police said.

Authorities said the suspect attempted to leave the store with beer without paying when the 22-year-old store clerk attempted to stop him.

The suspect slashed the store clerk in the face with a cutting instrument before fleeing on foot into 1008 Saint Marks Avenue, the NYPD said.

The victim sustained a laceration to the face and was taken by EMS to Kings County Hospital.
