NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A speeding dirt bike rider was killed Tuesday night when he crashed into a parked pickup truck in Queens, police said.

The 41-year-old man was riding a 2023 Kawasaki KX250X at an “unsafe speed”—and without a headlight—through Queens Village at the time of the crash shortly before 9 p.m., according to police.

As he was traveling eastbound on Hollis Avenue, he veered right to avoid a vehicle making a left turn onto 201st Street and struck the rear bumper of a parked Ford F-350.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time and suffered severe head and body trauma, police said.

He was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. His identity has been withheld pending the notification of his family.

The truck was unoccupied at the time, and no other injuries were reported.
