Driver, 83, fatally backs over woman, 75, in Queens

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 75-year-old woman was killed when an 83-year-old driver backed into her as he was reversing out of a garage in Queens on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The woman was standing behind the man’s 2021 Mercedes-Benz E350 in the parking area of an apartment building near 217th Street and 75th Avenue in Oakland Gardens around 3:35 p.m. when she was struck by the vehicle.

Police responding to a 911 call found the woman pinned under the Mercedes-Benz. Citizen App video shows the emergency response.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. She was identified as Georgiana Belfiore, who lived a short walk away.

The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.

No arrests have been reported.
