Ana Amadiz-Pena, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers responding to a 911 call around 2:30 p.m. found her lying on a bed with a stab wound to her chest at her Grand Concourse apartment near E.
198th Street.

Raul Jose Santos, 40, was arrested less than three hours after police responded to her apartment. He faces charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

Santos was separated from Amadiz-Pena and the two may have been in the process of getting divorced, the Daily News reported.

Santos, who lives about six blocks away, called 911 and said Amadiz-Pena was dead in her apartment, though he didn’t say what had happened, according to the report.

The two reportedly have no documented history of domestic violence.

The medical examiner is working to determine exactly how Amadiz-Pena died as police continue to investigate the killing.
