The 22-year-old, Isaac Argo, was quickly named a person of interest after Johnson was shot Wednesday night near Lexington Ave. and 95th Street.
Cops arrested Argo on Friday night and took him to the 19th Precinct where he refused to speak to investigators and asked for a lawyer, according to multiple reports.

NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell said in a tweet Argo was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Family members said Argo, a Brownsville Brooklyn resident, had a history of violence against Johnson.

“This city right now and this state failed my daughter,” Johnson’s mother Lisa Desort said. “I’m gonna tell you this city failed my daughter ‘cause this domestic violence as from January 1.”

On New Year’s Day, Johnson reported to the NYPD that her ex-boyfriend assaulted her in his Jamaica, Queens home while she was six months pregnant with his child, sources said. A misdemeanor assault charge was filed in that incident but officers never actually crossed paths with Argo until they arrested him.

Johnson was allegedly on her way to meet up with Argo on Wednesday night because she “felt bad” that he wasn’t in their daughter’s life when she was murdered, according to relatives and sources.

“That’s crazy that it happened in this area,” one neighbor told 1010 WINS at a memorial for Johnson. “And I'm glad that they did catch the guy as quick as they did.”

A GoFundMe, which has already raised over $13,000, was set up with proceeds going to Johnson’s two children and other expenses related to her death.
