Roberto Ubiera did odd jobs around Park Deli & Grocery on North Park Street near Burchard Avenue.
On Aug. 16, 2018 he handcuffed the deli’s owner Tarlok Singh, 55, and locked him in an employee bathroom, according to police.
He proceeded to stab Singh in the back and then cut his throat, officials said. He left him on the bathroom floor to bleed to death.
A cousin discovered Singh’s body in the store.
A jury convicted Ubiera of murder kidnapping, robbery and weapons offenses in March.
