Officials said at approximately 5 a.m., the man was crossing E. Houston in the crosswalk at Forsyth Street in the East Village when he was hit and dragged by a sedan that fled the scene.
Pedestrians found the victim, whose name has not been released, lying unconscious near E. Houston Street and Second Avenue, cops said.
He was transported to Bellevue Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim died from multiple blunt impact injuries “consistent with being struck by a vehicle,” a police source told the Daily News.
An investigation remains ongoing.
