MATAWAN, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- New Jersey officials last week arrested a man accused of killing his father at their home earlier this year, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday.
Officers from the Matawan Police Department were called to a home on Matawan Avenue for a welfare check on May 1, where they discovered the body of Kenneth Knapp Sr. in the basement, authorities said.

An autopsy issued last month revealed that his death was a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.
An investigation identified Knapp’s son, 31-year-old Kenneth Knapp, Jr., as a suspect and was arrested on Friday in Somerset County, the office said in statement.
Knapp, Jr. was charged with murder and desecration of human remains and was taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution as he awaits a detention hearing, authorities said.
If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
Anyone with information about the homicide was still being asked to contact Detective Joseph Mason of the Matawan Police Department at 732-566-1010 or MCPO Detective Brian Migliorisi at 800-533-7443.
