Man dragged, fatally struck by 1 train at Columbus Circle

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was struck and killed by a 1 train at 59th Street-Columbus Circle Monday afternoon after getting caught in the doors, authorities said.

The victim, whose age has not yet been confirmed, was pronounced dead at the scene around 5 p.m., according to police.

According to officials, the victim was dragged by a train after a piece of clothing got caught in the subway’s doors and then fatally struck.

"1‌‌‌‌/2‌‌‌‌/3‌‌‌/4‌‌/5‌ trains are delayed in both directions while emergency teams respond to someone who was struck by a train ‌at ‌59 St-Columbus Circle‌," NYCT Subway tweeted.

No criminality is suspected at this time, cops added. The investigation remains ongoing.
