NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The New Jersey man who allegedly shot and killed his uncle after a dispute in the victim's Bronx home earlier this month, was arrested on Wednesday.

Jonathan Mejia, 24, was charged with murder, manslaughter and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon for the May 2 murder of 43-year-old Daniel Valdez, police said.
Just before 8 p.m., police responded to a report of a man assaulted at Irwin Avenue near West 234th Street in Kingsbridge.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Valdez with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem where he was pronounced dead.
Sources told the Daily Voice that the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office began investigating after Mejia and his mother visited the Hackensack University Medical Center's emergency room the next day.
Mejia's mother reportedly said that her son "may have shot and killed his uncle in the Bronx" and had become suicidal.
NYPD detectives then responded to the same hospital, and Mejia was arrested, sources told the Daily Voice.
The outlet reports that Valdez let the 24-year-old into his home, then was shot during a fight as family members sat in a nearby room.
Mejia was reportedly held at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center for mental health reasons. Prosecutors had charged him with being a fugitive from justice and he was due to be extradited once medically cleared.
