Man punches straphanger, utters homophobic remarks aboard 4 train: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Cops are trying to track down a man behind an anti-gay, xenophobic attack aboard a 4 train in the Bronx.

Police said on Jan. 12 at 10:30 p.m., a person approached a 43-year-old man on a northbound 4 train in the Bronx.

Cops said the suspect made homophobic and hateful remarks regarding the person’s country of origin before punching them multiple times and taking out a knife.

The suspect, though, got off the train at the 167th Street station and fled the scene, police said.

According to the NYPD, the victim was treated for minor injuries.

An investigation is being carried out by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force. A police sketch of the suspect was released Tuesday.
