Man struck, robbed of $3K by armed suspect on Queens street: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials are looking to identify a man wanted in connection to a robbery that occurred on a Queens street late last month, officials said.

It happened on Sunday, March 20, at approximately 10:35 p.m., in front of 37-35 78th Street in Jackson Heights when a 43-year-old man was walking at the location when the suspect approached him from behind and struck him in the back, authorities said.

The suspect proceeded to display a firearm and remove the victim's wallet containing multiple debit cards, identification documents, and approximately $3,000, police said.

He then fled the location southbound on 78th Street. The victim suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention on the scene.

The suspect used the victim's debit card to purchase a MetroCard, officials said.
