NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Mariah Carey will join the production team of "Some Like It Hot," earning her first Broadway credit, the new musical announced Monday.
The Grammy-winning and best-selling female recording artist of all time revealed that she was intrigued by the producer role of the new Broadway adaptation of the 1959 film starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon because she adored the actress.
"I first became familiar with this story through the timeless film starring Marilyn Monroe," Carey said. "She’s been an important touchstone throughout my life, so much so that I acquired her treasured baby grand white piano at an auction. When Neil Meron shared this new take on the beloved film. I knew I had to be a part of it."

The 53-year-old Long Island native added that she's looking forward to seeing how this show builds on the film's legacy "by pushing boundaries, promoting inclusion, and celebrating diversity."
The show, which follows two musicians forced to flee Chicago after witnessing a mob hit, is in previews and opens at the Shubert Theater on Dec. 11.
