NJ health group offers businesses a 'COVID-19 Safety Check'

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (WCBS 880) — It's hard for customers or employees to know if a company is being safe amid the pandemic, that's why one of New Jersey's largest health systems is offering a service to vouch for COVID safety.

WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell describes it as a “seal of approval” for COVID-19 protocols for businesses.

“We take what we’ve learned and bring that to the community,” says Kevin Joyce, with Atlantic Health System.

The New Jersey health group says it will now be offered a new “customizable safety assessment” for businesses called the COVID-19 Safety Check to ensure workers and customers that they are safe from COVID-19 infection when they come to a place of business.

“The arrival of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines has delivered a light at the end of the tunnel in this pandemic,” said Kevin Lenahan, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, Atlantic Health System.
“But we know for our economy and communities to move closer to normal, employees and consumers must feel safe and confident when they enter restaurants, shops and other places of business.”

The cost for the service starts at $500 and when the check is completed, the business will be provided a seal that can be displayed for all customers and employees to see.

The Mayo Performing Art Center, or MPAC, has the seal and general manager Ed Kirchdoerffer says it was worth the investment.

“I think it was a long way to allaying the concerns of people who maybe on the fence about returning to live events at MPAC,” he said.
