According to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, the Little Ferry Police Department contacted their office on Jan. 1 regarding an alleged sexual assault of a victim under 13, who then launched an investigation into the allegations in coordination with the department.

Eventually, officials determined that Franklin Gomez-Paredes allegedly sexually assaulted the victim.

He was arrested that same day in Paramus, NJ, and charged with first-degree attempted aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault by contact and and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities told The Daily Voice that Gomez-Paredes was chased out of the child's home early Saturday morning after the girl's mother allegedly spotted the suspect "on top of the naked child."

The prosecutor's office said Gomez-Parades was due to make his first court appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
