NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey political consultant was sentenced to 24 years in prison on Wednesday for hiring two men to kill another political operative who used to work under him on campaigns, according to the DOJ.

Sean Caddle, 45, hired former mafioso George Bratsenis and his friend Bomani Africa to kill his longtime associate Michael Galdieri in April 2014.

The hired assassins stabbed Galdieri to death and set fire to his apartment in exchange for thousands of dollars.

“Sean Caddle unleashed two violent hitmen to stab Michael Galdieri to death and set fire to his apartment,” U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said. “Despite being lifelong friends, Caddle paid to have Galdieri murdered because he thought that his own business interests were at risk. Today’s sentence is a just punishment for a heinous crime and provides some measure of justice for the victim and his family.”

Caddle pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder for hire.

In addition to the 24-year sentence, Caddle will have to serve five years supervised release.

Bratsenis was sentenced to 16 years in prison in March and Africa got 20 years in February.

Caddle has a long history working behind the scenes in New Jersey politics.

He’s worked on the campaigns of Senator Robert Menendez and Raymond Lesniak  — two New Jersey state senators, the New York Times reported.
