ROCHESTER, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – A New York state high school teacher was arrested for possession of child pornography, officials announced Thursday.
According to a complaint, on October 10, Carusone, Louis Carusone, 44, a high school physics teacher at Brighton High School, shared a video and images containing child pornography in an online peer-to-peer file-sharing network, which were downloaded by an undercover law enforcement officer.
Between October 14 and 15, the officer downloaded more files containing child pornography that were shared from Carusone’s IP address, authorities said.
On October 21, investigators executed a search warrant at Carusone’s residence in Webster and seized multiple devices including a tablet, SD cards, a laptop, desktop computers and phones.
In one of the cell phones seized, investigators recovered 11 videos that Carusone appears to have recorded himself, between August 16 and October 13.
It appears that Carusone secretively recorded and photographed female students in his classroom and also secretively recorded both minors and adults in public places, including in what appears to be a water park, where he recorded both adults and children in bathing suits, officials added.
Additionally, a preliminary review of one of the desktop computers recovered approximately 2,030 images and 21 videos of child pornography.
Carusone made an initial appearance in court Thursday morning and was released on conditions, to include electronic monitoring.
