NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 50-year-old NYPD officer was indicted on child pornography charges Thursday after police found images and videos of young girls being sexually abused on his iCloud account and phone, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Steven Marksberry was indicted on a 119-count criminal complaint for allegedly uploading images and videos of the sexual abuse of children between the ages of 4 and 12 to his iCloud account.

Law enforcement executed search warrants for Marksberry’s phone and iCloud account at his home at Lake Grove on Long Island after receiving a tip that he had uploaded child pornography to Apple’s cloud storage service.

“Not only is this defendant alleged to have saved a large quantity of child sexual abuse material to his phone, but he is alleged to have done so while he was a sworn police officer,” said Suffolk County DA Raymond Tierney. “No one is above the law. The safety of our children is, and always will be, of the utmost priority for my office.”

Marksberry was charged with 50 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and 69 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child — both felony charges.

He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the top charge.

His next court date is slated for Aug. 7.
