Off-duty FDNY firefighter arrested for allegedly choking girlfriend: police

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Officials arrested an off-duty FDNY firefighter early Monday after he allegedly choked his girlfriend during a dispute at her Bronx home, according to authorities.

Just before 1 a.m., 39-year-old Joshua Young was arrested for attacking his 30-year-old girlfriend during an argument inside her home located on Washington Avenue in Morrisania, police said.

Young was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, the NYPD said.

His girlfriend refused medical attention at the scene, officials said.

An investigation is ongoing.
