The 31-year-old officer, who has not yet been identified, was killed at an apartment building on the Grand Concourse, near E. 156th Street, in the Concourse Village section.

Officers responded around 2:50 a.m. to a 911 call about a woman stabbed in the apartment.

The responding officers found the woman with multiple stab wounds to her body. EMS pronounced her dead at the scene. Police said she was an NYPD officer.

An unnamed 34-year-old man turned himself in at an area precinct stationhouse, according to police.

The man is said to be the victim's estranged husband, although their relationship wasn't immediately confirmed by the NYPD.

Sources told 1010 WINS that she was separated from the husband and that the two had an altercation on the first floor of the six-story building.

Several dozen police officers were at the scene around 10 a.m. Among them was NYPD Chief of Transit Jason Wilcox, suggesting the victim may have been a member of the Transit Bureau.

Police said an investigation is ongoing.
