NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Hate it or love it, New York City’s annual SantaCon bar crawl tradition is back for another year this weekend.
The event, where thousands of people dressed liked Santa Claus hop around to dozens of bars in the city, will take place Dec. 10 starting at 10 a.m. on West 40th Street and Broadway.
Participants must pay a $15 donation fee which allows them access to 64 venues all day. Proceeds of the donation money will be split up between different charities.
Holiday costumes are required in order to partake in the event, with head-to-toe get-ups encouraged. “None of that “just a hat” bullsh*t,” the SantaCon website reads.
SantaCon 2021 marked the return of the tradition after a COVID-19 cancellation the year before.

Organizers of the event enforce the “5 F’s” of SantaCon which include not messing with kids, cops, bar staff, NYC and SantaCon’s charity mission. The under-21 crowd is still allowed to participate in the events though they will not be allowed to enter the bars.
