NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 75-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and beaten by a shirtless man in an unprovoked, midday attack in Herald Square, police said Thursday as they released photos of a suspect.

Saturday's attack happened at the bustling intersection just outside Macy's Herald Square and a block from the Empire State Building.

The woman had reportedly just left Macy's and was crossing the street at W. 34th Street and Sixth Avenue around 1:15 p.m. when a man pushed her to the ground, police said.

He kicked her multiple times as she was on the pavement and then fled the scene, according to police. He was last seen headed southbound on Sixth.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was transported by EMS to Mount Sinai West, where she was in stable condition.
