NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A crazed man beat a subway rider with an expandable baton in an unprovoked attack at Grand Central on Wednesday, police said.
The 63-year-old victim was in the mezzanine area of the Grand Central subway station around 1 a.m. when he was approached by his attacker.
The unhinged stranger started an argument with the victim, who tried to get away from him, police said.
As the victim was heading to a staircase to leave the station, the man took out an expandable baton and beat him in the head with it, according to police.
EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim in stable condition to NYU Langone Medical Center.
The suspect fled the station and was still being sought Thursday, police said.
