NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A subway rider was repeatedly punched in the face by a thief who stole his wallet at the Bryant Park subway station and then used his credit card to purchase over $700 worth of clothing and shoes at Manhattan stores, police said Tuesday.
The NYPD released surveillance video Tuesday showing the suspect using the victim’s credit card at a clothing store about an hour after the attack inside the 42nd Street–Bryant Park station in Midtown last Wednesday morning.
Police said the 37-year-old victim was on the mezzanine level of the station around 11:30 a.m. when his attacker came up and asked for money.

As the victim took out his wallet, the other man snatched it from him, running away and hopping a turnstile, police said.
The victim chased after him and the crook punched him in the face several times, according to police.
The suspect then fled on a southbound D train with the wallet, which contained $81 and bank cards, police said.
The victim suffered a laceration and pain to his nose. He was transported in stable condition to Bellevue Hospital.

Video shows the suspect using the victim’s credit card to purchase $556 worth of merchandise at a Journeys clothing store on W. 14th Street around 12:30 p.m. the day of the attack, according to police.
A surveillance image also shows the suspect purchasing $158 worth of clothing and shoes at a Footlocker on W. 34th Street the following day, police said.
