The stranger used the towel to strike the victim in the head "with force," police said.

The victim was lashed so hard with the towel that it left a gash on his head, according to police.

The suspect fled on a Flushing-bound 7 train, while the victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
