
ISLIP, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — An 18-year-old teen was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly drove while intoxicated and struck two pedestrians, killing one and seriously injuring the other in Islip, Suffolk County Police said.

The Bay Shore teen was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot eastbound on Union Blvd. when his vehicle left the roadway and struck the two individuals who were walking in front of an apartment building at 2:44 p.m.
The Honda struck an unidentified adult man, who was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The injured woman, who was walking with the man at the time of the incident, was transported by ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with serious injuries.
Officials said the teen also hit a parked 2001 Toyota Camry, an electronic pedestrian crossing sign and a tree.
The teen was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
He is expected to be arraigned at a later date.
