NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A teen gang member accused of shooting an NYPD officer in the Bronx earlier this month was released from custody on bond, according to court records.
Officials said 16-year-old Camrin Williams, 16, shot a police officer in the leg during a struggle on Jan. 18.

The shooting unfolded as six uniformed officers responded to a "large, disorderly group" on Lorillard Place, near Third Avenue, in the Belmont section around 9:30 p.m.
When the officers arrived at the scene, Williams wouldn’t take his hands out of his pockets, according to police.
Officer Kaseem Pennan, a four-year veteran of the department, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and was later released.
In a news conference following the shooting, Mayor Eric Adams said Williams had been arrested on weapons charges at 14-years-old and was on probation on a gun charge last month.
Court records indicate Williams was released on bond Thursday.
“New Yorkers should all be outraged that a repeat offender, accused of shooting at a police officer, is today walking free on bond because judges are precluded from even considering danger to the community, like every other state and our federal courts," the mayor said in a statement released on Friday. "It is further proof that our current system is failing us."
"We cannot allow those who carry guns to walk free – we can pursue safety and justice at the same time, and we must, for the safety of all of us." he added.
