NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A teen was killed in Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon after he was accidentally shot in the head by a friend, according to reports.

The gunshots rang out on Pitkin and Miller avenues in East New York around 1:30 p.m. near the Fiorentino Plaza Houses, according to police.

The incident began when a gunman shot a teen in the torso, according to the New York Post.

Another boy then reportedly pulled out his gun and fired at the gunman, but accidentally shot the teen.

Police said they arrived at the scene to find the teen unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the torso.

The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead. He has since been identified as Cahlil Pennington, 16 of Brooklyn.

Investigators are looking for video of the incident, after those involved fled the area, according to the Post.
