NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A group of young men stole a subway rider’s eyeglasses and slapped him across the face after firing a gel blaster at him and stalking him through a Queens train on Sunday, police said.
It all started around 4:30 p.m. when the 34-year-old victim got on a 7 train at the Main Street station in Flushing.
While aboard the train, the man was approached by the group of males—believed to be in their teens or early 20s—who began to harass him, police said.
The group punched the victim and shot a gel-ball imitation pistol at him, according to police. They then tried to steal his gold chain but were unable to.
The man managed to move to another train car and towards the front of the train, but when he got off at the Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street in Jackson Heights, the group followed him onto the platform and snatched the prescription eyeglasses from his face, police said.
They then smacked him across the face and fled the platform with his eyeglasses, according to police.
The victim did not suffer serious injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.
The suspects were last seen boarding a Queens-bound F train at the 74th Street station.
