NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- On Monday afternoon, Kathy Hochul announced an MTA pilot program, which will temporarily eliminate the fares for one bus route in all five boroughs.
By late September, nearly 44,000 public riders will have access to fare-free bus routes for the next six to twelve months. These rides go through lower-income New York communities, where fare evasion is frequent and access to employment is limited.
