NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An elderly man was robbed while leaving a shopping plaza in the Bronx on Friday afternoon and police are searching for the man they say is responsible.

The 79-year-old victim was walking out of the garage of a shopping plaza at 171 West 230 St. in Kingsbridge around 3:42 p.m. when a thief who was waiting outside began to follow him, police said.
Surveillance video of the robbery shows the suspect approaching the victim from behind and stealing his wallet from his pockets, which had, among his personal documents, $1,000 in cash, authorities said.
The thief fled down Exterior Street on foot. The victim was not injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as approximately 25-years-old, 5'7" tall, 160 pounds, with a light complexion, slim build, black hair, last seen wearing a red baseball hat, a black face mask, a red hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
