NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Authorities issued a holiday mail alert after several mail carries were robbed in New Jersey in recent weeks.
According to officials, armed thieves who tried to rob four mail carriers in Newark since late October managed to steal postal keys to the blue street mailboxes.
Investigators released a reward poster with an image of two suspects and up to $50,000 for information leading to a conviction for three other armed robberies or attempted robberies of mail carriers.
Additionally, postal inspectors confirmed in at least one of those crimes the thieves took a postal key.
