NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Monday released images of the vandal they say smashed windows at the Turkish Consulate, which coincides with the country's elections.

In the early Monday attack at 3 a.m., the man used a large crowbar to shatter multiple windows at the location at 821 1st Ave., according to police.

He then fled southbound on 1st Avenue.

There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

Sibel Szüer Zorlu, a voter, told WABC-7 they were stunned by the vandalism.

"We were shocked, we didn't understand at first what was happening," Zorlu said. "Obviously it's very concerning, I don't know if it's like a hate crime, I don't know if it's targeted, and I don't know why anyone would do that."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
