VIDEO: Eric Adams gets ear pierced, fulfilling campaign 'promise' after primary win

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Eric Adams got his ear pierced Wednesday, fulfilling a “promise” he made to someone on the campaign trail for New York City mayor.

Adams, the Brooklyn borough president and presumptive Democratic nominee for mayor, posted video to Twitter showing him getting the piercing, which he said he promised he would do if he won the primary.

“On the campaign trail a group of young people met with my son & me,” Adams wrote. “They asked ‘how do we know you’re not like other politicians who make promises they don’t keep.’ They said we’ll trust you if you promise to pierce your ear when you win the primary. Promise made, promise kept!”

After getting the piercing, Adams showed off a stud in his left ear.

“Already lived up to my first promise to that young man,” he said. “So if you see it on social media young man, I told you I was going to do it, and I just did what I promised. Day one, living up to my promise.”

While the election results haven't been officially certified yet, Adams is expected to face Republican Curtis Sliwa in the November general election after his closest Democratic rivals, Kathryn Garcia and Maya Wiley, conceded on Wednesday as Adams led the vote count.
