NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD released chilling video Friday showing the brutal beating of a Queens pawn shop owner who was hospitalized in critical condition.

Police also released new images of a suspect as they continue to search for the man responsible for the assault in Jamaica on Monday afternoon.
The 60-year-old owner of Global Pawn Shop was at his business on Jamaica Avenue around 1 p.m. when a man stormed in and attacked him, reportedly with a metal rod.

The disturbing new video shows the attacker striking the victim as he struggles on the ground.
The victim was beaten repeatedly in the head and suffered severe trauma, according to police. He was hospitalized in critical condition at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

His injuries were so severe that police initially thought he’d been shot, only to determine later that he was beaten, the New York Post reported.
The suspect fled westbound on Jamaica Avenue after the attack, police said.
The NYPD hasn't said what may have motivated the attack.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
