OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. (WCBS 880) — A whale skull washed up on a New Jersey beach earlier this week, officials said.

Staff members at Island Beach State Park in Ocean found the skull on the sand over the weekend, the park said on its Facebook page.

“Take a look at what our State Park Police staff found near A2 beach access path yesterday after the storm,” the post read.

“We have confirmed that this is the ventral (lower) jaw and skull of a Minke whale,” the post added.
