NEW VIDEO: Man sought for choking, sexual assaulting NYC jogger

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD released new surveillance footage on Wednesday of the bike-riding man who choked, sexually assaulted and robbed a 39-year-old woman at Pier 40 in Lower Manhattan late last month.

Authorities said the brutal incident happened on March 27 just after 6 a.m. on the Hudson River Greenway at Pier 40 near West and Clarkson Streets.

While jogging northbound on the jogging path, an unknown man on a bicycle approached the victim. According to police, he then pushed her to the ground and began choking her before sexually assaulting her and removing her cellphone.

The suspect then fled on his bicycle in an unknown direction.

EMS responded and transported the victim to the hospital for evaluation. She suffered bruising and pain, police said.

The individual is described as being 20 to 30 years of age, being around 5’ 9" and weighing 180 lbs. He was last seen with a beard and dark clothing.
