Woman arrested for slashing victim twice in face aboard Brooklyn D train

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials arrested a woman accused of slashing another woman in the face twice while aboard a Brooklyn subway train earlier this month, authorities said.

Police charged 22-year-old Shailyn Souffrant with assault in connection to the incident that happened on a moving southbound D train at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16.

According to the NYPD, Souffrant allegedly approached a 33-year-old woman, pulled out a knife, and slashed her on both sides of her face.

Souffrant fled the train at the Stillwell Avenue - Coney Island train station, officials said.

An investigation is ongoing.
