PATERSON, N.J. (WCBS 880) — A woman pleaded guilty to intentionally starting a fire that ended up displacing 60 residents and injuring four firefighters in New Jersey earlier this month, prosecutors announced.

Yanit Valdez on Friday admitted to sparking the blaze at 40 Cianci Street, in Paterson, on Aug. 3, which then rapidly spread to four adjacent buildings, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Valdez’s motive was not immediately clear.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on October 29, 2021.
