The dogs and cats were brought from shelters in Naples and Fort Myers, two of the hardest hit areas, in an effort to make room for the anticipated influx of homeless or surrendered pets at shelters post-storm.

Many of the dogs will be going to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison. The shelter previously took in dogs from Puerto Rico displaced by Hurricane Fiona.

In order to help make room for the new arrivals, the animal center waived adoption fees this weekend.

St. Hubert’s is also seeking volunteers for fosters. To adopt or foster a pet, visit sthuberts.org.
