
NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Federal prosecutors charged a Newark man for carjacking a woman in her own driveway.

Andy Cook, 23, and an unnamed accomplice allegedly approached the victim while she was sitting in her 2021 Porsche Cayenne while parked in her driveway around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.
Police say his accomplice pointed the gun at her and ordered her to exit the vehicle. Cook then allegedly got behind the wheel and drove away.
The victim called the police who spotted Cook driving the car. He got out and tried to run, but the cops caught up with him and placed him under arrest. They found the keys to the car on him.
Prosecutors say they have security footage of the carjacking.
Cook is facing a maximum of 40 years in prison for one count of conspiracy to commit carjacking, one count of carjacking and one count of conspiracy to use a firearm during a violent crime.
