The incident occurred at Empire Marble and Granite just before 3:30 p.m. where officers responded to a call of the 37-year-old victim trapped under a slab of concrete.

When authorities arrived at the scene, the victim’s coworkers had removed much of the slab off of him but he had already sustained serious injuries.

EMS workers pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to police.

An investigation determined the workers were moving the slab of granite for a customer when it fell backwards onto the victim.

The unidentified victim lived in Marlton with his wife and kids, police said.
Empire Marble and Granite posted a video tribute to the employee but did not name him.

The investigation by the United States Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) remains ongoing.
