The officers said they went to the man’s home to interview him about a previous incident that took place in Nassau County.

The man, whose identity has not been released by police, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

The Suffolk County homicide squad is investigating the shooting, because Copiague is in Suffolk County not Nassau County.
